Hello! My name is Meagan Veneracion, I have a background in media arts and a passion for storytelling in digital mediums. I am currently in her final year studying film production at York University, where she specialized in production management, documentary filmmaking and editing. Being in my final year at school, I am working towards exploring the philosophy of blending creativity and communication into building strong and powerful works that puts a halt - even just for a second - to our ever growing, fast-pace online world of social media.
A brief history on my academic background!
I have took on the role as producer/production manager during my final years of studies, running two successful funding campaigns for Gwen and Polly and the Pocket in 2018. While, in fourth year I have also directed two short documentaries, including Howard, a cineseige nominee and runner up for the Show a Little Heart video competition, and her latest short film, This Wild Ride. I have then developed a deeper love for editing after taking on the role as an editor for the documentary The 5th Region in 2018 and for the short film Kashif in 2019. My passion for editing continued to grow while working for Mobilizing Inuit Heritage Culture (MICH) as a video editor.
After wearing multiple hats in her years studying film production, I have decided that my expanded interests in these areas of creative work can be blended and applied to bringing new, exciting and imaginative work to more accessible audience in our online platforms.
Where I am now.
I am now currently working as an audio/visual research assistant. at York Capstone Network where I have collect media coverage and produce a couple of short videos to run on YCN’s website.
Meagan is continuing to explore and grow her creative skills to help others communicate their ideas, works and passion in online spaces.
